Build Virtual Trust to Win Grants

Building trust is key to fundraising, grant seeking, partnerships and client services. is important, including grant seeking.

Building virtual trust is an essential element to building trust for your organization.

Our world is wired to share information and build our reputations. Your reputation as an agency, as a board, as a program, and as a professional can impact the organization’s ability to secure funding. Building your online reputation and online relationships is vital to your organization’s reputation and you will increase your fundraising and grant seeking success.

Grantors and donors feel entitled to having your organization’s financial data, program goals, strategic plans, outputs and outcomes available at the click of a mouse.

What can you do to build your virtual trust?

  • Be human!  Post, feature and tweet videos and pictures of your staff, your offices, your clients and your activities.
  • Be social! If you haven’t already, join the social media frenzy. Build your program and organization Facebook pages, blog, tweet, and interact with your community and funders. Follow foundations and donors on Facebook,Twitter, Pintrest, and other social media platforms.
  • Be proactive! Post your annual budgets on your website. Provide online surveys and feedback to donors, event participants, and funders.
  • Be creative! One of the best ways to build your virtual trust is to offer opportunities for partnerships, networking and collaboration. You could bring in an expert to talk about a specific topic, like Grant Readiness, and use Facebook or Twitter to invite outside organizations to take part in the event at your site. You could develop a social enterprise in collaboration with a local business and promote it through the partners’ social media streams.

The opportunities are endless.

The topic of Virtual Trust is fascinating!

Marc Vaillancourt at the Conversation Hub  posted this link to this TED video earlier this week.

The video features Rachel Botsman and her new work focuses on trust and reputation capital.  She writes, consults and speaks on the power of collaboration and sharing through network technologies, and on how it will transform business, consumerism and the way we live.

Tell us about your efforts to build your virtual trust here and share it with us on Facebook and Twitter.
