Federal Grant Reform and GPC

Federal Grant Reform and GPC

Federal Grant Reform and GPC   GPC isn’t just for Grant Professional Certification, post-nominal letters I am proud to display. GPC is also the acronym for the  Grants Policy Committee.    Grant Policy Committee This GPC, a committee of the U.S. Chief Financial Officers Council, has responsibility for coordinating government-wide streamlining and simplification activities for federal grants and cooperative agreements. This GPC recommends financial assistance policies and practices to the Office of Management and Budget and coordinates related interagency activities. This GPC is moving us forward with federal grant reform. Busy GPC The GPC’s improvement efforts gained significant momentum when the committee assumed…read more →

How to Sync Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote

How to Sync Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote

Tips & Tricks Tuesday: Sync Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote Do you use Google Drive, Dropbox and Evernote? I do! I love these tools and services. I can't imagine drafting proposals or strategic plans without Google Drive or submitting federal grant applications without Dropbox. Research, articles, and support materials are kept with a click of a button in Evernote.  I had a problem…  I would save somethings in Dropbox, some in Evernote and others in Google Drive. I would go back and forth between the two and forget where I put a file. I am always seeking ways to improve and simplify team collaboration and file management. …read more →

TechTip for Google Tasks: Google Canvas

TechTip for Google Tasks: Google Canvas

Jo's TechTips: Google Tasks, Google Canvas   I am always looking for better ways to manage my projects.  I like Google Tasks because: I can manage projects and tasks in Gmail I use and share documents and projects through Google Drive (and sync many items with my Dropbox). I like the Google/Chrome integration across my Adroid devices and my PC.  I like that my family, clients and colleagues can use these tools on their systems and devices including IPads,Kindles, etc.  I've had this tiny irritation with GTasks, I wanted to look at my tasks when I wasn't 'in' Gmail and THAT is where this…read more →

My 3 Words 2014

My 3 Words 2014

MY 3 WORDS 2014 Last year I was inspired by Chris Brogan’s ‘My 3 Words for 2013’ post. Like Chris Brogan, I have found that the concept of ‘three words’ allows me to focus on what I want to do with my life and helps me apply many tangible goals instead of focusing on specific tasks that often come with typical New Year’s resolutions.  Chris explains his process here. In 2013, my words were Renew, Optimism, and Creativity. These 3 words guided me in 2013. When confronted with most situations I checked the experience against my 3 words.  I enthusiastically moved forward or gracefully I moved…read more →

16 HUD Office Closures

16 HUD Office Closures

HUD OFFICE CLOSURES U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to close 16 of its 80 offices and 900 HUD employees may have to move or change jobs. The HUD Office closures will save the agency between $110 and $150 million over a 10-year period. The savings will begin to be realized in FY 2014.   WHY IS HUD CLOSING 16 OFFICES: HUD, like other Federal agencies is balancing program delivery needs against the budgetary resources available to the Department. This action is in response to a White House executive order for more efficiencies.  Federal government has stated that the…read more →

How To Twitter Chat After Tweetchat Shutdown

How To Twitter Chat After Tweetchat Shutdown

HOW TO TWITTER CHAT AFTER THE SHUTDOWN OF TWEETCHAT.COM At #Grantchat, we have recommended and used Tweetchat with great enthusiasm. TweetChat offered a clear and an easy way to participate in a Twitter chat.  Then we saw TweetChat’s alert stating they will most likely be unable to continue to provide their services! WHAT?   If Tweetchat is so awesome, why are they shutting down?  In short, that little bird likes to be in control.   Twitter is a platform and not an app. Twitter has been pushing to evolve beyond a platform to include  a suite of apps. As Twitter evolves and…read more →
