GPA Conference Walk Run

GPA Conference Walk Run

Don’t Forget Your Walking Shoes!

We are headed to the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) conference in a few short weeks. We are busy preparing for presentations, open houses, social media opportunities, board meetings and many events throughout our time in Portland, OR.

While I am racing around from session to session, event to event I am prone to not drinking enough water, eating too much and not sleeping enough.  I have found that I enjoy a conference AND I am able to keep up the pace when I get back home  – when I take care of myself during my travels.  I pack protein shakes, vitamins, my water bottle and my walking shoes.

This is our second annual GPA Conference Morning Walk/Run group and you are invited to join us. Each morning we meet in the lobby (click on the image for a full schedule, this will be in the conference materials and we will announce it each day via social media with #GPAConf14).  My Grantchat Co-host and dear friend Diane heads up the runners while I lead the walkers for about 30 minutes of exercise and conversation. We hope you can join us this year.

We would love to get a shout on social media using the hashtag #GPAConf14 from you to let us know that you will be joining us!

Love this idea and would love to join the run – do you know how fast/far the group goes? Great idea!

    • Kerri, Hi! Diane H. Leonard @dianehleonard is our runner. She is flexible with the pace and the distance and will base it upon those who show up each morning. Last year, the running pace was moderate and averaged 2.5 miles. Because we all want to get some exercise and arrive for the conference activities on-time, our run/walk times are around 30 minutes. We are delighted that you will be joining us!

I did this at last years conference with Jo and Diane and what a great way to see the sites of a new city in the early morning light. Thank both of you for taking the time to do this for conference goers and I am sad I will miss it this year.
